Saffron: the golden thread
Saffron is the reason you see small crimson threads resting in every bottle of Amitra. It is one of the world’s most treasured botanicals, chosen for its rarity, richness and golden heritage.
What saffron is
Saffron comes from the saffron crocus, a small violet flower that blooms for only a few weeks each autumn. Each flower holds just three slender crimson threads, and every one is picked by hand. That patience is why saffron has been prized across centuries of beauty ritual, from the Mediterranean to Persia and India.

How we use it
We add whole saffron threads to the infusion alongside calendula, rosebuds, lavender, manjistha root and licorice root. Over gentle, low heat, the oil slowly takes on saffron’s warm golden color and its soft, honeyed aroma. After straining, a few threads are placed in each finished bottle so the ritual begins with something beautiful to look at.

Saffron and the ritual
Saffron has always been a luxury of time: slow to grow, slow to gather, slow to infuse. It belongs in a ritual made for the one unhurried minute after your shower.
